Fred Dewees has been fly fishing for nearly 20 years, calling the tidal waters of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland his home. Recognized as one of the leading authorities on catching snakeheads with a fly rod, Fred has landed more than 1,000 snakeheads, cementing his reputation as a pioneer in targeting this misunderstood gamefish. Fly design innovator: Fred specializes in tying weedless flies, crafted to reach fish living in dense cover. Tournament competitor: He has proven his skill in kayak tournaments, earning three top‑ten finishes, including a second‑place victory against conventional anglers why only using his fly rod. Media spotlight: Fred was featured on Hook Shots, where he guided the host to more fish on the fly than conventional methods had produced in prior Potomac outings. Community leader: He runs the Facebook group Fly Fishing for Snakeheads and Bowfin, fostering a dedicated community of anglers.
