Project Description: A unique collaborative project spearheaded by Upper Hanover Township in partnership with PVTU and other key stakeholders to restore and remediate environmental damage, including severely eroded stream banks and sedimentation on the main stem of the Perkiomen Creek along a 1/3-mile corridor within Camelot Park. The main features of the project included the construction of a 300-foot modified mud sill along a vertical wall severely eroded stream bank; strategic installation of multiple log vanes and deflectors to restore the historic stream channel; and the addition of random in-stream boulders to improve flow and add critical habitat. Following installation and construction live-stakes and over 150 native trees were planted to improve riparian habitat. The project location is a heavily utilized township and community park that offer great community engagement to share benefits of environmental stewardship projects. The project was recognized by PA Trout Unlimited as 2024 Project of the Year.
