BACKGROUND - Green Lane Park and Perkiomen Creek

Perkiomen Valley TU is currently working with AQUA PA to restore the Fly Fishing Area in Green Lane Park.

The old USGS Dam was removed from the Perkiomen Creek at the Fly Fishing Area several years ago. The stream, however, needs some tender-loving care. It has widened significantly and become very shallow. Stocking at the site no longer takes place. Restoration will work to narrow and re-naturalize the stream stretch with deflector logs and other restoration techniques.

The goal will be to connect a restored stream stretch upstream towards the Camelot Park Restoration. This will produce a section of the Perkiomen Creek that will be a prime candidate for future restocking of trout. Hopefully, the project will be completed within the next few years. AQUA PA and PVTU, along with other community partners, are in the process of working out a schedule, details, and budget for the project.
